The idea came when Mavis saw a breast cancer walk whilst overseas in At the time, industry superannuation funds, especially those with large female memberships, were seeing that breast cancer featured strongly in the highest group of diseases for accessing death and disability benefits. Women in Super determined that breast cancer research would be of the greatest assistance for their fund members.
For years we were able to send to Susan Komen thousands of dollars supporting their efforts in fighting breast cancer. In recent years we have have been fortunate to partner with Unite for Her, a local non-profit organization committed to serving local woman diagnosed with breast cancer and their families. Each year Unite for Her provides complementary therapies like yoga, nutrition, acupuncture, massage and much more to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. We could not be more proud to show our local community how much we care and reach out to one of our own and their family with this grant.
For more than years, the American Cancer Society has relentlessly pursued our mission of fighting all cancers on all fronts in communities across the country. We are proud of how far we've come in the fight against cancer, but we are never satisfied with status quo. And we know our participants, donors and sponsors expect us to be never satisfied to continuously improve our programs and services to be most effectively helping the most people and efficiently using our donor dollars.

Please join us, on Sunday, May 5 th and May 12 thas we walk with breast cancer survivors, families, friends, colleagues and corporate teams to raise money to fund life-saving breast cancer research. We will be walking in 10 different city locations across Canada over two weekends. Although advancements have been made, breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women, with 26, new cases in Canada this year.
